St. Vincent de Paul Parents & Friends Organization
Dear St. Vincent Schools' Parents and Friends,
Welcome to a new school year that will be filled with excitement. My name is Gerry Kubicka and, along with Bob Boracchia, we will be the incoming President and Vice President of the PFO. On behalf of myself and Bob, we would like to graciously thank Ronda Evans and Kelley Pitre for their years of dedicated service to the PFO as President and Vice President. We can only hope they stay as involved in their future years with us as they have in the past.
The Parents & Friends Organization of St. Vincent de Paul Schools (PFO) consists of the parent community of both the elementary and high schools. The PFO's mission, under the stewardship of elected board members, is to promote the academic, spiritual and social mission of the schools, to generate financial support in order to maintain reasonable tuition and fees and to assist with capital expenses, and to build Catholic values and community spirit among families.
Through various annual events and programs, the PFO successfully raises many necessary funds. Since its inception, PFO has raised over $1.6 million dollars! Last year alone, through the generosity of countless supporters and tireless work by the PFO board and volunteers, we presented $119,000 to the schools!
Your support will help our schools with these critical needs:
- Scholarships for families in need
- Alleviating budget deficits for sustaining programs, teachers and resources
Our organization, PFO, encourages all families to become involved on some level. If everyone lends a hand, we can accomplish amazing things for our schools and our students. I am a firm believer that it takes a whole village to raise a child and our community is our village. When we ask for your help, we don't always mean send money. Yes, that is always gratefully accepted, but your time and effort can be just as important. I want to include you all in this adventure of parenting. We can and will make an impact on the growth and development of your child, grandchild or relative. We need to make that impact as positive as possible and teach the correct values along with developing capable people!
Here are several ways you can become involved in the PFO:
- Come to a PFO meeting Meetings are generally held every third Wednesday of the month (August - May) at 7:30pm in the library at St. Vincent de Paul High School. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Visit the school websites for meeting dates, agendas & minutes. NOTE: August meeting will be held on 8/26/09.
- Volunteer your talent or time Contact any PFO Board member or an event/program chair and offer your assistance.
- Become a PFO Sponsor Visit the school websites to learn about these opportunities. PFO events are a great way to promote businesses to the St. Vincent's community.
- Donate We need fun and exciting items for our online and event auctions. Go to www.stvincent.cmarket.com or call (707) 778-6440 if you would like to donate.
- Attend Mark your calendars for some of the upcoming PFO events. Some of this year's events and programs include the Fall Rummage Sale (9/19), the 500 Club Raffle (year round), "An Evening in Provence" Dinner Dance & Auction (11/21), the Wine Cellar Raffle (fall) and the Annual Spring Golf Tournament (5/21/10). For details, visit school websites.
In addition, as many of you know, this year will be very exciting at the high school with the reconfiguration of the grounds to include new sports turf football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball and softball fields along with many other new amenities. This will enable more of you to enjoy the high school part of our community.
Again, we ask you to become involved with our community. Bring a friend to experience the St. Vincent schools' lifestyle and our students' achievements. Involve segments of our community that you feel should be included and become a supporter of a wonderful organization. No one person can do it all, but together we can move mountains.
Sincerely,
Gerry Kubicka Bob Boracchia
